Will you speak up for Houston ISD schoolchildren? 

On Thursday, 6/11/2026, come to the HISD Board of Managers meeting at 5:00 pm at HISD, at 4400 W 18th St. Bring family and friends. 

To speak at the Thursday Board meeting, register on the HISD website to speak anytime from Sunday (6/6) at 5 pm to Wednesday (6/10) at noon the week of the board meeting. Steps to register are below.

 

How to Sign Up to Speak (Required)

The Houston ISD Board of Managers holds public meetings where parents, teachers, community members, and students can speak. Speakers can join in-person and via Zoom but must register to speak by noon the day before the meeting. Meetings are generally on Thursdays at 5 pm at HISD, at 4400 W 18th St. Bring family and friends. Zoom speakers are after in-person speakers.

Step-by-Step Instructions How to Sign Up to Speak (Required)

If this is your FIRST time

  1. During the registration window, click the registration link houstonisd.legistar.com/Calendar.aspx. Then find the date and time -5:00 pm and click on e-comment on the far right. 
  2. You can also create your account outside the registration window by clicking at houstonisd.granicusideas.com/meetings. Then click the menu to sign up. But you cannot register to speak until the window opens Sunday through Wed noon the week of a board of managers meeting.
  3. Create an account (you only do this once.) You should get an email from [email protected] where you have to confirm your account.
  4. Log in → click “View Agenda” → scroll to agenda items  which are on page 2. Scroll to the bottom to get to page 2.

No confirmation email?

If you already have an account

  1. Click the registration link above.
  2. Click “e-comment” for the 5:00 p.m. meeting (far right)
  3. Choose an Agenda item: You can sign up for literally any agenda item. To find agenda items, you may need to scroll to the second or third page. This is located at the bottom of each page. There are 25 agenda items on this week's agenda. As a note, you speak in the order you sign in at the actual board meeting, not by agenda items. You can sign up for Reports from the superintendent (Special Ed Supports and K-2 Literacy update) or just pick a random agenda item 1-25.
  4. You may sign up for multiple agenda items, but you will only get one minute total to speak. If you sign up for multiple agenda items, you still only get one minute if there are more than 30 people and two minutes if there are less than 30 people.
  5. Click “Register to Speak” and “I Agree”

How Speaker Order Works

  • Students, parents, and elected officials speak first at 5:00 pm ONLY if they fill out the priority Zoom form included in the confirmation email you get after registering to speak.
    • Look for the line: “If you wish to be prioritized to speak early…”
    • The form must be submitted by 2:00 p.m. the day before the meeting
    • Save the Zoom link shown after submitting because it will not be emailed to you
  • Everyone else speaks later, typically between 6:30–8:00 p.m.
  • In-person speakers go before Zoom speakers
  • Speaker order is based on lobby sign-in.

Time Limits for Speakers

  • 30 or more speakers: 1 minute per speaker (about 150 words)
  • Fewer than 30 speakers: 2 minutes per speaker (about 300 words)

El jueves 11 de junio del 2026, acompáñanos en la reunión de la Junta de Administradores de HISD a las 5:00 p. m. en HISD, ubicada en 4400 W 18th St. Trae a tu familia y amistades.

Si esta es su PRIMERA vez:

Si ya tiene una cuenta:
